About Paper-Cutting
These exclusive artworks are expertly hand-cut out of the finest of paper. Paper cutting is an ancient folk art which can be traced back thousands of years in Chinese, Japanese, Mexican and many other ancient cultures. Traditional PaperCut artworks are designed to evoke the happiness of festivals, children, and animals, while demonstrating an affinity with nature.
Premium framing
Each artwork is presented in a premium quality frame. the corner joints are filled prior to painting to provide a seamless frame, while the backs are finished in a felt tape to keep the artwork fully sealed and avoid marking your walls. An adjustable stainless wire is used for hanging.
About the Artist
Ning has been practicing the art of Paper-cutting for 17 years. Self-taught in her home village in the north of China, Ning speaks of her love of the visual vocabulary present in paper-cutting that has been developed over many years and by many influential practitioners. The artist plays with scale by using tiny silhouettes of humans dancing, playing instruments or interacting with animals which are often juxtaposed with over- sized trees brimming with animal life. This speaks volumes about the respect held for the natural world and humanities symbiotic relationship with it. The almost primitive forms are enhanced by the monochromatic nature of the medium and help to maintain simplicity, despite the intricacy of the artworks.
